Motor starter installation at SPEC SERWIS is a comprehensive service covering the selection, installation and commissioning of soft start devices for electric motors. Thanks to a correctly selected and installed motor starter you limit starting currents, protect drive mechanics, reduce shocks in the installation and increase the service life of the entire drive system.

Professional motor starter installation in industrial installations

SPEC SERWIS specialises in installing motor starters working with asynchronous motors and geared motors operating in harsh industrial conditions – including horizontal and vertical transport, sorting lines, pump systems, fans and agitators.

Before installation we analyse the actual operating conditions of the drive: starting frequency, starting torque, load characteristics and limitations on the supply network side. On this basis we select the appropriate motor starter and the way it is connected into the existing power supply and control system.

During installation we take care to make all connections correctly, select appropriate protection devices and conductor cross-sections, and arrange the components in the cabinet so that the entire installation meets technical requirements and is easy to service later.

Selection, configuration and integration of the motor starter with the control system

Motor starter installation at SPEC SERWIS always combines the electrical part with the application part. We do not limit ourselves to connecting the device – our work also includes parameter configuration and integration with the existing machine control system.

As part of the service we can, among other things:

  • select the appropriate type and size of motor starter for the motor power, load characteristics and starting conditions,
  • configure the starting and stopping parameters (ramp time, initial voltage level, soft stop functions),
  • adapt the control system (start/stop signals, feedback signals, integration with a PLC or existing automation),
  • set protection thresholds (overload, phase loss, asymmetry),
  • carry out operation tests under typical and more demanding conditions, and then provide operating recommendations.

Thanks to our experience with extensive drive systems, we know how to select and configure a motor starter so that it not only meets the motor manufacturer's requirements, but also genuinely supports plant uptime and reduces the risk of failure.

Motor starter installation at the customer's site

We carry out motor starter installation directly at the customer's facility. We plan the work so as to minimise downtime – we often combine motor starter installation with other activities, such as a geared motor inspection, a motor condition check or an assessment of the entire drive system.

Where necessary, we also help modernise existing switchgear – we add the required protection devices, adapt the power supply system and label the equipment to make subsequent operation and fault diagnosis easier. For plants with a larger number of drives, we can prepare a coherent concept for using motor starters and frequency inverters depending on the application type.

FAQs – Motor starter installation

Below we have collected answers to the most common questions about motor starter installation. They will help you quickly assess whether this solution is right for your installation and how SPEC SERWIS can support your plant.

For which applications is a motor starter particularly recommended?

Motor starters are particularly recommended where limiting starting currents and shocks is important, but smooth speed control over the full range is not required. This applies, among others, to pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, agitators and high-inertia drives, in which conventional direct-on-line starting causes network overloads or mechanical "jerking" of the system.

How does motor starter installation differ from frequency inverter installation?

A frequency inverter, in addition to soft starting, also enables smooth motor speed control over a wide range, whereas a motor starter is mainly responsible for controlled starting and stopping when operating at mains frequency. Motor starter installation is usually simpler and less costly, but it does not allow the speed to be changed during operation. At SPEC SERWIS we help you decide whether a motor starter or a frequency inverter is the better solution for a given application.

Does motor starter installation require changes to the existing control cabinet?

In many cases the switchgear needs to be adapted – e.g. making room for the motor starter, selecting appropriate protection devices and modifying the control circuits. At the offer preparation stage we always assess the condition of the existing installation and indicate what changes will be necessary for the correct and safe operation of the motor starter.

Do you offer service support after motor starter installation?

Yes. After installing motor starters we provide further support – fault diagnosis, regular checks, help with changing parameters in connection with process modifications, and rapid service action in the event of failure. We can also combine motor starter support with the servicing of geared motors, motors and the remaining elements of the drive system, so that your maintenance relies on a single, experienced partner.
